Product Overview

The O-belt driven roller conveyor is a light-to-medium duty powered roller conveying system that uses a 5mm rubber or polyurethane round O-belt as the friction transmission medium. It is a cost-effective, low-noise, and low-maintenance material handling solution widely adopted in modern factory automation, warehousing, and logistics industries.

According to different driving structures, our O-belt roller conveyors are divided into two core technical categories.

1. Grooved roller type

Features machined grooves directly on the roller tube, including single-groove drive and double-groove drive configurations.

2. End O-belt pulley type (R2260 series)

Adopts non-groove smooth roller tubes with polymer O-belt pulleys installed at roller ends, separating the driving area from the material conveying surface.

All models rely on O-belt friction drive to power roller rotation, ensuring stable transportation of cartons, bags, totes, and palletized goods. This versatile conveyor is extensively used in e-commerce logistics, electronics manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical, and packaging industries.

Working Principle

The motor drives the power assembly and transmits power to each roller via a flexible polyurethane O-belt. The rotating rollers move goods forward through surface friction. We adopt a unified 5mm diameter O-belt for all series to ensure stable and standardized power transmission.

1. Single-Groove Tube Drive (Line Shaft Type)

A continuous line shaft runs through the entire conveyor frame. Each roller is machined with a single groove and driven by an independent O-belt connected to the main line shaft. The motor drives the central shaft, delivering stable power to every single roller.

The line shaft can be segmented and connected via universal joints, enabling curved conveying layouts. Due to its independent power distribution structure, this type features minimal torque attenuation and is ideal for long straight conveying lines. O-belt replacement requires partial disassembly of the line shaft assembly.

2. Double-Groove Tube Drive

Rollers are dual-grooved at both tube ends. A continuous round O-belt runs in a serpentine pattern across all roller grooves, driven by a motorized drive roller. The single loop belt synchronizes the entire roller bank for consistent operation.

The O-belt requires a pre-tension compression rate of 5%-8% during installation to ensure stable friction transmission. This bidirectional drive design supports forward/reverse operation and allows material accumulation and sorting functions. Typically, one drive roller can power 7 to 8 passive rollers, making it suitable for medium and short-distance conveying segments.

3. End O-Belt Pulley Drive (R2260 Series, Non-Groove Tube)

This innovative structure uses smooth, non-groove roller tubes with plastic O-belt pulleys mounted at roller ends. The driving system is completely separated from the material carrying surface, eliminating belt-to-product interference and abrasion.
It adopts the same serpentine O-belt transmission principle as the double-groove type and supports flexible layout combination with R2240 series rollers. Equipped with precision ball bearings and dust-proof plastic end caps, the R2260 series provides anti-static performance (≤10⁹Ω) and operates steadily in clean and electronic workshop environments, with a working temperature range of -5℃ to +40℃.

Key Advantages & Limitations

Core Advantages

  • Low Noise Operation: Flexible O-belt friction drive eliminates loud chain and sprocket noise, creating a quiet workshop working environment.
  • Simple Structure & Cost-Effective: Minimal component design reduces procurement, installation, and renovation costs. The non-groove 2260 roller tube avoids structural deformation for smoother conveying performance.
  • Easy Maintenance: Double-groove and end pulley models allow direct O-belt replacement without large-scale frame disassembly. Dustproof end caps effectively protect internal bearings and extend service life.
  • Rich Functional Performance: Stepless variable conveying speed via frequency conversion. Double-groove and end pulley types support bidirectional operation, material accumulation, and sorting loop conveying.
  • Modular Customization: Frame width, height, length, and roller pitch are fully customizable. Frames are available in steel folded plate or aluminum profile materials to match different production scenarios.

Application Limitations

  • Limited Transmission Power: A single 5mm O-belt transmits 50-150W power, with a standard load capacity of ≤30kg/m and single item weight ≤30kg, not suitable for heavy-duty materials.
  • Friction Drive Restrictions: Not applicable for high-precision positioning processes; overloaded goods will cause belt slippage.
  • Material Adaptability: Loose bulk materials and irregular workpieces cannot be conveyed directly and must be placed in totes or pallets.
  • Torque Attenuation: Double-groove and end pulley drives have obvious torque attenuation, limiting them to medium and short-distance conveying sections.

Application Industries

O-belt driven roller conveyors are designed for flat-bottomed goods including cartons, packaged products, turnover totes, and pallets, widely applied in:

  • E-Commerce & Logistics: Warehouse sorting, order circulation, parcel transportation lines.

  • Electronics Manufacturing: Anti-static conveying for electronic components and finished products (R2260 series prioritized).

  • Food & Pharmaceutical: Clean conveying of packaged cartons and sterile turnover boxes.

  • Warehouse & Distribution: Goods inbound/outbound transportation and sorting supporting lines.

Note: Loose and irregular materials must be placed in totes or pallets before conveying.

Selection Guidelines

1. Roller pitch is determined by the workpiece bottom size; ensure each goods item contacts at least 3 rollers simultaneously.
2. For loads over 30kg/m, chain-driven roller conveyors are recommended instead of O-belt types.
3. Choose single-groove line shaft type for long straight conveying; select R 2260 end pulley type for sorting, returning, anti-static and clean scenarios; adopt double-groove type for conventional medium-short distance conveying.
4. O-belts are wearable parts; reserve sufficient operating space for later replacement and maintenance during equipment layout.
