What is the chain conveyor?
Chain conveyor is a machinery conveyor that uses chain as traction and carrier to transport materials. There are many types of chain conveyors, chain plate conveyor and pallet chain conveyor are commonly used in logistics systems. Its structural principle is similar to belt conveyor. The main difference between them is that belt conveyor uses belt as traction and carriers, and rely on friction to drive and transmit traction. The main components of chain conveyor.
Although there are many types of chain conveyor and some of them have relatively complex structures, the functional components of conveyor are basically composed of the following parts.
1. Prime motor
prime motor is the power source of conveyor, and generally adopts AC motor. Ordinary AC asynchronous motor can be adopts as needed, or AC debugging motor can be adopted. The adjustable speed motor includes variable pole small range step speeding regulating motor, variable frequency and slip AC motor which can also be infinitely adjustable speed. When using adjustable speed motor, the cost of motor itself is higher, but the structure device is relatively simple.
2. Drive device
The drive device is also called the drive station. The motor is connected to the conveyor head pulley through the drive device. The composition of the drive device depends on the function to be achieved. The functions to be achieved by the drive device are usually as follows.
2.1 Speed reduction: since the speed of the drive motor is much higher than the required speed of the conveyor chain, the chain conveyor must have a reduction mechanism. The reduction mechanism usually includes belt drive, chain drive, gear drive, worm drive and crawler drive mechanism.
2.2 Mechanical speed regulation: If the running speed of the conveyor chain needs to be changed within a certain range, although it can be achieved by motor speed regulation, since the speed regulation of the motor alone will have the disadvantages of low motor speed and small output torque, a mechanical speed regulation device is set in the drive device, such as a mechanical continuously variable speed changer and a gearbox.
2.3 Safety protection: chain conveyors are required to have safety protection and emergency braking functions during operation. Safety protection equipment and braking equipment are mostly installed in the high-speed running part of the drive station.
3. Line body
The line body of the chain conveyor is the key component that directly realizes the conveying function. It is mainly composed of conveyor chain, accessories, sprockets, head pulley, tail pulley, track, bracket and other parts. To correctly design the line body, we must pay attention to the difference between the conveyor chain and the transmission chain. Although the two may be very similar or even exactly the same in structure (for example, short pitch precision roller chain can be used for both transmission and conveying), they are still different in function. The conveyor chain needs to have the function of carrying objects and running on the track. Therefore, it is very important to correctly analyze the force condition of the conveyor chain and its force flow (i.e. the distance that the material gravity transmits to the conveying support track). When designing the line body, we should follow the principle of shortest force flow route and equal strength of each part passed by the force flow route.
4. Tensioning device
The tensioning device is used to tighten the tail pulley. Its functions are as below.
4.1 Keep the conveyor chain running under a certain tension state to eliminate the phenomenon of jumping, vibration and abnormal noise during the operation of the chain conveyor due to chain relaxation.
4.2 When the conveyor chain is elongated due to wear, the tensioning device is used to compensate and maintain the pre-tension of the chain. There are two methods for tensioning devices: weight tensioning and spring tensioning. The tensioning device should be installed at the part with the lowest tension in the chain conveyor line.
5. Electronic control device
For a single chain conveyor, the main function of the electronic control device is to control the drive device so that the chain runs according to the required rules. However, for production automatic lines composed of conveyors, such as accumulation and release suspension conveyor lines, supporting chain conveyor line equipment with steering devices such as shifters, its functions are much more extensive. In addition to general control of conveyor speed, it is also necessary to complete various functions such as synchronization of dual or multi-machine drives, signal collection, signal transmission, fault diagnosis, etc. to enable the chain automatic production line to meet the production process requirements.
