The Belt-Driven Roller Conveyor for Box‑Type Cargo is an automated logistics conveying equipment that uses belts as the driving medium to rotate rollers for transporting box‑shaped goods. Designed specifically for cartons, totes, plastic boxes, and other box‑type packages with flat, rigid bottoms, it is widely used for light‑ to medium‑duty horizontal and inclined conveying of boxed cargo. Thanks to its low noise, high speed, and smooth operation, it has become one of the most common conveying solutions in e‑commerce logistics, express sorting, warehousing and distribution, and industrial production.
The conveyor features a modular structure, with flexible combinations of frames, legs, and drive units. It supports both horizontal conveying and inclined conveying (gradient tailored to application requirements), and can be customised to fit different layouts and operational needs. Three drive options are available: O‑belt, PJ‑type Poly‑V belt, and timing belt (synchronous belt), covering everything from light‑duty high‑speed to medium‑duty high‑precision applications.
The O‑belt drive is the simplest and most cost‑effective belt‑driven solution. Its high elasticity and easy installation allow flexible groove placement. After installation, the O‑belt remains below the roller surface, so it does not interfere with cargo movement.
Key advantages:
Simple construction, easy assembly and maintenance, low operating cost
Smooth, quiet running with gentle start/stop
Elastic cushioning reduces impact on goods
Flexible for curves, suitable for short‑distance, high‑frequency conveying
Load capacity: Light duty (up to 30 kg per unit)
Typical applications: Small parcel sorting, light industrial product conveying, general carton handling, small‑to‑medium warehouses, courier stations, packaging lines
The PJ‑type Poly‑V belt is the most widely used drive method for box‑type cargo conveyors. The Poly‑V pulley is fixed at the roller end, separating the drive zone from the conveying zone. With a grooved friction engagement, it offers a large contact area and uniform force distribution, significantly increasing load capacity while retaining the high speed and low noise of O‑belts.
Key advantages:
Quiet operation – equipped with precision ball bearings and polymer bearing housings for smooth, low‑noise running
High conveying speed – up to 120 m/min
Strong load capacity – maximum 180 KGS
9‑groove Poly‑V pulley (pitch 2.34 mm) – compatible with 2‑groove, 3‑groove, or 4‑groove Poly‑V belts
Torque improvement – compared to round belts, a 2‑groove Poly‑V belt transmits approximately twice the torque
Excellent protection – plastic end caps effectively seal against dust and splashing water
Maintenance‑free – no lubrication or re‑tensioning required
High transmission efficiency – up to 98%
Poly‑V belt selection guide (by roller pitch):
| Roller Pitch (mm) | 2‑Groove Belt Model | 3‑Groove Belt Model |
|---|---|---|
| 60~62 | 2PJ256 | 3PJ256 |
| 73~75 | 2PJ286 | 3PJ286 |
| 87~91 | 2PJ314 | 3PJ314 |
| 97~101 | 2PJ336 | 3PJ336 |
| 119~121 | 2PJ376 | 3PJ376 |
| 123~128 | 2PJ388 | 3PJ388 |
| 144~151 | 2PJ435 | 3PJ435 |
Selection should consider roller pitch, conveying speed, and load weight.
Typical applications: Full‑case batch conveying, medium‑sized logistics sorting, finished product transfer in factories, food/pharmaceutical production lines, warehouse inclined conveyors
The timing belt (synchronous belt) uses a toothed engagement drive, unlike friction‑based systems, achieving zero slip and zero error synchronised conveying. Timing‑belt‑driven steel rollers are high‑performance, high‑precision power transmission components, primarily used to build modular conveyor systems with high synchronisation requirements.
Key advantages:
Zero‑slip transmission – constant speed and precise positioning
High transmission efficiency
High conveying speed – up to 120 m/min
Medium‑duty capacity – maximum load 100 KGS
Wide operating temperature – −5 to +40°C
Material options – roller tubes available in carbon steel or stainless steel
Timing belt selection guide (by centre distance):
| Centre Distance (mm) | Belt Model | Belt Teeth |
|---|---|---|
| 60 | 10‑T5‑250 | 50 |
| 75 | 10‑T5‑280 | 56 |
| 85 | 10‑T5‑300 | 60 |
| 100 | 10‑T5‑330 | 66 |
| 105 | 10‑T5‑340 | 68 |
| 135 | 10‑T5‑400 | 80 |
| 145 | 10‑T5‑420 | 84 |
| 160 | 10‑T5‑450 | 90 |
The centre distance for timing belts has strict limits; recommended tolerance is +0.5/0 mm.
Typical applications: Automated assembly lines, precision parts conveying, intelligent sorting systems, pharmaceutical sorting, fixed start/stop and accurate counting applications
The conveyor is not only suitable for horizontal applications but also supports inclined conveying, meeting the needs of height differences between floors or at loading docks.
Inclination angle – customised based on cargo weight, friction coefficient, and belt selection.
Anti‑slip design – optional anti‑slip roller surfaces or auxiliary hold‑down devices to ensure stable transport without slipping.
Smooth transition – horizontal and inclined sections can share the same drive system for seamless transitions.
Selection advice – for inclined conveying, we recommend 3‑groove Poly‑V belts or timing belts to provide greater driving torque.
